It takes them a little while to understand that ...

there will always be enough food for them to eat

Food security with good nutrition is very important. When the children enter their "project homes" they tend to grab food, pile it on their plates and eat in a hurry! It takes them a little while to understand that there will always be enough food for them to eat.

Most children come mal-nourished. The nutrition program should be designed to evaluate the nutritional deficiencies in every child with the ultimate goal of serving meals that are nutritionally appropriate and balanced at all HOH project facilities. This is simpler said than done. Local cultural and food habits sometimes lead to an imbalance of carbohydrates and proteins; especially in rice- based diets. The goal is to supplement the requirements of every child.
