It appeared as if the clouds over the economy had cast a shadow on the HOH annual walkathon this year, both literally and figuratively speaking. Although overcast, the weather was just ideal for walking on this scenic route alongside the Fremont hills, tall grasses and water inlets. The amount raised was lower than previous years at $7,000, with approximately 50 participants. The organizers, led by Anoop Judge had put in considerable effort to plan this worthwhile event which included several first time volunteers and attendees - Gurbir Singh, Nirali, Poonam Raman, Mamta Narain, - to name a few. Signs were clearly displayed, food and water tables punctuated the walking trail and Rekha Gupta's freshly grilled family chicken awaited those who completed the walk, along with other treats. The pedometers which were donated by Adesh Kumar proved to be a hit with the walkers. HOH depends on each and every one of you to participate to make its events successful.
