Home of Hope Helps Launch Indian Development Coalition of America
Last year, Dr. Sabharwal was invited to join IDCA, and this year, in November, she co-chaired the First Annual Conference for IDCA with Dr. Sailesh Rao, Executive Director of the Climate Healers in Danville. It took place at the Indian Community Center in Milpitas, and the theme was "Working Together to Mitigate Climate Change and Eradicate Poverty in India".

There were four topics addressed - Poverty Eradication in Rural Developments, Mitigating Climate Change, Poverty Eradication through Education and Poverty Eradication through Healthcare and Livelihoods - and 21 very successful speakers.

This was an opportunity for Rupali Saiya, the Founder of Crafts of Hope and Nikki Somani and Roshani Roy, the President and Vice President of the HOH Youth Chapter to present what they have accomplished so far, and what their goals are to an audience of 50 professionals.

Home of Hope Makes History!
Home of Hope ended the year 2010 on two very high notes! Dr. Nilima Sabharwal was acknowledged for the work that she, and people who have created Home of Hope, with an Award from India for creating a superior place in this world for women, and was warmly welcomed to the 2nd Annual Cricket Open that was held in Lauderhill, Florida.

In November, The Women's International Network and the Yog Confederation of India, honored Dr. Sabharwal with the Kiran Life Time Award.

Nilima Sabharwal could not attend the Event on November 25, due to scheduling conflicts. The day remained most special because Anil Lal was also invited as the Honorary Guest, and delivered the Key Note Address. He focused on the powerful work the organization is doing - improving the rights of women and children in India - and both he and Dr. Umesh Sabharwal, Nilima's husband who was there to acknowledge her award - had the pleasure of visiting with Kiran Modi, who works with Udayan Care, a Location helped by Home of Hope.

In December, Home of Hope was recognized as the 'official charity' by the Cricket Council USA, at the 2nd Annual U.S. Cricket Open.

Based in Boca Raton, Florida, CCUSA's goal is to develop a love among kids and adults for the newly upgraded game in the United States, known as Twenty20. Cricket began in the 16th Century, and the game took 3 to 5 days to play. In 2003, a new approach was introduced, and the games last about 2 hours.

CCUSA holds games for both American and International teams in the United States and the Caribbean, and is reaching out to high schools. In the past 12 months there has been the First U.S. Cricket Open, and the First Women's U.S. Open. Both had only four teams competing. This year, the Second Open had twenty teams playing, and the popularity is clearly growing.

These Events take place in the Central Broward Regional Park, the largest Cricket Stadium in the North America, and it is an honor to be associated with them! Home of Hope acknowledges the help they have provided in expanding our reach to a new audience, and thank Mohammed A. Qureshi, the owner of Cricket Council USA and Jeff Miller, the Executive Vice President of Operations for their wonderful support!
